SCLL Field Information

Field prep is an essential component to our community sports programs. The steps and effort involved surely enhance the experience our children. PLEASE DO YOUR PART!

Here are a couple of team takeaways to "COACH" both players and field assistants:

  1. Do not let your players dig or burrow in the batters boxes as part of "professional imagery". This destroys fields at this level and there is plenty of firm clay beneath their feet.
  2. Watering the infield is HUGE!!! The main reason for fields to become too hard is a lack of water!! Don't skip this step; especially as the early season rains diminish.
  3. Keep the infield mix in the infield. At no time should the drag mats, rakes, or brooms pull material towards grass edges. This includes pushing water after storms onto turf. Leave any puddles to BOD Field staff and play on.
  4. Do not let players jump over the home run fences.
  5. THE LAST GAME OR PRACTICE HAS TO PUT THE FIELD BACK PERFECT; EVERYTIME; ALL STEPS!!

Field Use and Care

Each team is responsible for the preparation and care of fields before, during and after every game or practice.
