An update from San Carlos Little League

By Mark Reynolds, 11/23/20, 9:15AM PST

My name is Mark Reynolds and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. As of October 13th, I was fortunate to become President of San Carlos Little League. I want to thank John Minton for his previous two years of service—he did a lot of great things for the League and guided us all through the crazy 2020 ‘season’.  John will continue to stay on the Board as a player agent but if you see him around town, please thank him.

A little bit about me—I am a Bay Area native and lifelong Giants fan.  I grew up playing baseball in the district with Menlo Atherton LL.  My wife, Nikki, and I moved to San Carlos in 2003 and we have two boys, Jacob (10) and Cameron (13), and a daughter, Caitlynn (15). I started coaching T-ball in 2013 and since that year, I have had the fun of coaching twelve teams!

I am a huge fan of baseball and I love this city. Knowing how good youth sports have been for my kids and others, I am thrilled to spend the next two years giving back.  I hope to grow San Carlos Little league so we can build a funnel of baseball players who love to play and want to come back year after year; recruit passionate individuals to coach; maybe win some district titles; and, who knows, make some noise while on the way to Williamsport, PA for the LLWS.   I hope we give these kids the love for the game, the confidence to continue playing beyond LL, into High-school, college or as far as they want to go.

I want to have an open door policy -- whenever you have an issue or question, don’t hesitate to ping me at  I want feedback that addresses questions like: “How can we make coaching a better experience for a veteran coach?”,  “Or what about a rookie coach?”,  “How can we make this a better experience for the parents?”,  “What about the youth umpires?”,  “And of course the players?”.  So, if something is on your mind today, tomorrow, or in a few months, drop me an email so we can discuss what you love or would like to see improved.  In addition, if any moms or dads would like to get more involved, please let me know.

Now, let’s get to the question that you all are wondering, “what is the status of the season for 2021”?  The answer is, “We don’t know yet.”  We take direction from the state, county and city and my understanding is that there should be an update over the coming weeks.  That said, there has been a lot of positive progress in San Carlos youth sports.  AYSO, San Carlos United, Club baseball teams and more are starting to practice.  So, the Board will be planning to open up registration the second weekend of November.  Assuming we receive the green light to move forward for some type of organized activity, our plan would be to start try-outs in January.  Two things you will learn about me is that I am an over-communicator and also an optimist—I commit to keeping you updated as often as we can.

Thanks for reading and please expect to hear from us soon.
