By Ted Mathias,

Scott Odom's first public e-mail since his Presidency began - FOUR MORE YEARS, FOUR MORE YEARS!!!

Hello Fellow San Carlos Little League Families,

I'm Scott Odom, President of San Carlos Little League.

On behalf of the SCLL Board of Directors, I wish all players, family members, and volunteers a memorable, fun, and successful playing experience as we begin the 2017 season. This week's sunny weather and fresh blossoms give a sense of Spring, the time when we step onto our City of Good Living's fields to renew the American pastime in our community.

Thank you to the City of San Carlos Parks and Recreation Department and the San Carlos School District for the league's continued use of our City's fields and facilities. The fields look so playable due to their efforts over the fall and winter! Teams can't wait to get on them.

Thank you to our fellow softball and soccer organizations with whom we share the ever increasing demand for playing time. Their flexibility and willingness to work with each other benefit all San Carlos families.

This season the Highlands Park and Arguello Park Snack Shacks will be operated by All Sports Concessions and Catering. All Sports Concessions and Catering provides a wide range of meals, drinks, and snack foods. SCLL asks that teams visit both of the shacks when playing at those fields.

We hope families, players, and coaches notice and take advantage of the new equipment and refurbished facilities that were funded by SCLL's inaugural Hit-A-Thon last season. A few notable items are:

6 high quality baseball tees for TBall,
2 benches for Tball/Farm teams to use at Central,
4 pitching machines for AA,
One portable mound for AAA games at Laureola
2 high quality tees for Majors to use during practices,
4 "L Screens" for protecting pitchers during batting practice,
One new golf cart at Highlands to help with field set up and break down by coaches and parents,
A complete overhaul of Stadium/Highlands batting cage (open to SCLL, Softball and the public) including new turf, batting net, protective screens and accessories, and
Umpire Gear - both youth and adult for AAA and Majors.

SCLL expects another successful Hit-A-Thon this season so we can continue to improve the playing experience. The Board of Directors values all the efforts by each individual who contributes her or his time, knowledge, energy, and income to our league. Please say "hey" whenever you see a board member and tell us how the season is going for you and your player.

Best regards,
